Former World champion tennis player, Mallorcan Rafa Nadal has reported on X this Tuesday that various platforms are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to impersonate him in videos in which “advice or investment proposals are attributed to me that do not come from me.”
Nadal has used the wide reach of his social media to raise this alert, identified by his team, and to communicate what he considers a “necessary” message to all his followers.
In the videos, he explains, a figure has been created that imitates his image and voice in order to mislead viewers with investment advice he has not given. The tennis player warns that all these videos constitute “misleading advertising” and that he has not endorsed this type of message or campaign.

His message on social media said: "Hello everyone, I’m sharing this alert message—something quite unusual for my social media, but necessary. My team and I have detected that some platforms are circulating fake videos generated by artificial intelligence, featuring a figure that imitates my image and voice. These videos attribute to me advice or investment proposals that do not come from me. This is misleading advertising. Please be careful: I have neither given nor endorsed this type of message. Thank you all for your attention and support."
Nadal is not the first public figure to report this type of scam involving their image. Taylor Swift, Rosalía, Pedro Sánchez and Lamine Yamal are among the celebrities who have been affected by these new cyber scams, which clone voices or images to sell all kinds of products or attribute false messages to them.
