A joint operation by the Guardia Civil's Fiscal and Border Analysis and Investigation Unit (UDAIFF) and the Tax Agency's Customs Surveillance has led to the arrest of two individuals on drug trafficking charges. The suspects were intercepted at the port of Palma last week, having travelled on a ferry from Valencia.

The arrests occurred during a routine vehicle verification operation for disembarked vehicles from a vessel that had just arrived in the Balearic capital from Valencia. Agents identified a particular vehicle as suspicious and subsequently diverted it to a designated control area, where the two occupants were identified.

A thorough inspection of the car's interior then revealed a bag containing 1.184 grams of various substances. Following necessary tests using a 'narcotest', it was confirmed that the two occupants were transporting ecstasy, ketamine, MDMA crystal, and pink cocaine.

Both individuals were subsequently detained as alleged perpetrators of an offence against public health, a serious charge under Spanish law.
