The south of the island and the Serra de Tramuntana remain under an orange weather warning, while a yellow alert is in effect for the rest of the island.

After several days of unsettled weather, Mallorca is still under alert this Tuesday as the island braces for more heavy rain and thunderstorms, even though the worst of the weather system has begun to ease. The State Meteorological Agency (Aemet) has confirmed that the trough affecting the Balearics has lost some of its strength, but conditions remain unstable across much of the region.

According to Aemet, the south of the island and the Serra de Tramuntana remain under an orange warning due to the likelihood of intense rainfall. The forecast, however, has been slightly downgraded: earlier predictions suggested up to 50 litres of rain per square metre could fall in just one hour, but this figure has now been reduced to 30 litres. The warning is expected to remain in effect until 8pm this Tuesday evening.

Elsewhere on the island, a yellow alert is in place, with similar rainfall totals possible in a short period of time. These warnings also extend until 8pm Tuesday, as showers and thunderstorms continue to move across Mallorca. Aemet has said that while the situation will gradually improve, residents should remain cautious due to the risk of sudden, heavy downpours.

Conditions are forecast to ease from Wednesday, 15 October, when no official weather alerts will be active. Nonetheless, the outlook remains changeable, with cloudy intervals and occasional showers that could be locally heavy and accompanied by thunder. Temperatures at night are expected to remain steady, while daytime values may dip slightly. Winds will range from light to moderate, blowing mainly from the north and northeast.

The following days should bring further improvement. On Thursday, 16 October, scattered showers may still occur, but by Friday, 17 October, clearer skies are expected to return across much of the island. Aemet predicts only a small chance of isolated rainfall, with night-time temperatures slipping a little and daytime readings rising slightly. Winds will continue light, shifting from the northeast to the east by the afternoon.
