A 17-year-old boy was taken to hospital on Saturday after being stabbed in the back at an event in Llucmajor for the Santa Candida Fiestas.

The incident occurred around 3am. There was a minor confrontation between the 17-year-old and the person who stabbed him, but this escalated. Two groups of youths got into a fight, a knife was pulled and he was stabbed.

Witnesses saw the severity of the wound, and the emergency services were called. Llucmajor Civil Protection volunteers were the first to respond before the police, Guardia Civil and ambulance arrived at the scene.

The attacker was in a group with four others. They are said to all be "foreigners" and from Palma. No arrests have been made so far.

A fortnight ago, a 37-year-old man was stabbed at a fiestas' event in Cala Pi, also in Llucmajor.
