Two members of cabin crew were injured when severe turbulence struck a Ryanair flight from Vitoria to Palma on Sunday afternoon. Emergency services met the aircraft on arrival at Palma Airport, where the injured staff were treated after passengers reported moments of panic during the flight.

The turbulence hit as the aircraft was preparing to land in Palma, with storms and heavy rain already forecast for Mallorca overnight. According to reports, the crew were carrying out safety checks when the aircraft suddenly jolted. One attendant was thrown against the ceiling, while another was struck by the service trolley they were pushing.

Most of the flight attendants were on their feet at the time, leaving them vulnerable to the violent movement of the aircraft. Around 180 passengers were on board and described being badly shaken by the intensity of the turbulence, which struck without warning after what had been an otherwise smooth and punctual journey.

On landing, an ambulance was dispatched directly to the aircraft steps to assist the injured crew. After several minutes, passengers were allowed to disembark, with operations at Palma already affected by weather-related delays across the Mediterranean, particularly in Catalonia.

The storm system was moving eastwards over the Mediterranean on Sunday evening and is expected to reach Mallorca overnight. The adverse weather is thought to have been a key factor in the incident, which turned an otherwise routine flight into a frightening experience for both crew and passengers.
