At least three people have been injured, though only lightly, after a collision between a TIB bus and a food delivery lorry from a well-known butcher. The crash occurred at around 10am on Wednesday, temporarily closing the Ma-10, the main road linking Esporles and Banyalbufar—a popular two-way route through the Serra de Tramuntana.
Witnesses say the lorry driver appears to have crossed into the opposite lane on a bend, striking the front of the bus and dislodging its bumper. The impact shattered the driver’s windscreen and left several people hurt. “It was just a hair’s breadth from being far more serious,” one witness said.
The Guardia Civil’s traffic unit quickly attended the scene and began gathering evidence to determine the cause of the collision. Sources close to the investigation suggest the driver may have been distracted, though breathalyser tests have also been carried out, with results yet to be released.
With both large vehicles blocking the single-lane road in each direction, the Ma-10 was completely blocked, causing long delays on a heavily trafficked route, particularly during the summer months.
