The met agency says a winter storm is heading Mallorca's way on Thursday. Arctic air will bring very unsettled conditions, with rain possible throughout the day, as will be thunderstorms and hail. Weather stations are predicting snow at 1200 metres, with Aemet suggesting there could be snow at 900 metres by the evening. A cloudy day, the breezes are forecast to be moderate at most, but occasional strong gusts are expected. Despite all this, there are at present no weather alerts for Thursday.
For Friday, there are yellow alerts for rain and thunderstorms in the Tramuntana and the north/northeast up to 12 noon. There is a yellow alert for wind in the afternoon in the north/northeast, and there are yellow alerts for the coasts (whole of Mallorca). Aemet adds that temperatures will be like those more associated with late January and early February than November; highs not above 13 or 14C. Snow is forecast at 600 metres.
Saturday is due to be as cold, but the Arctic air mass will begin to subside. Temperatures will pick up on Sunday.
