A 38-year-old woman, originally from Brazil but with an Irish passport, faces a sentence of 18 months for a sexual assault that occurred at a Magaluf hotel in June.
The incident occurred around 6pm on June 4 in the spa at a hotel on C. Tirso de Molina. The woman got talking to a 20-year-old Swedish man in the sauna. They then both left the sauna. He went to the pool and a short time later entered the Turkish baths. The woman was there. She placed her hand on his genitals and groped him through his towel. He told her that he was not interested and reported the incident.
Calvia Police located the woman. She was with her husband and denied having touched the Swedish man in an inappropriate manner. The Guardia Civil then arrived.
When taken to court, she stated that she regretted the incident, having thought the 20-year-old was interested. She was released on charges and is due to appear in court again shortly.
The Prosecutor's Office is also calling for the payment of 500 euros as compensation for emotional distress and for her to be barred from working with minors for a period of two years after the period of the sentence.
