72-year-old Matilde Muñoz was staying at a hotel on the island of Lombok.

The body of 72-year-old Palma resident, Matilde Muñoz, missing since July 2, has been uncovered on a beach on the island of Lombok in Indonesia.

Emergency teams found her body on Saturday. She had been staying at the Bumi Aditya Hotel in Senggigi on the island. Staff at the hotel were the last to have seen her.

Relatives believe that hotel employees were responsible for her disappearance. They point to several reviews of the hotel that refer to robberies, some involving violence. They consider the role of a receptionist to have been crucial. She was apparently the last person to have been in contact with Matilde. This was through a message five days after her disappearance, in which she stated that she was in Laos.

Relatives are suspicious of this. English was used in the message, and this seemingly didn't correspond with Matilde's knowledge of English. Immigration authorities have themselves denied that she was in Laos.

Police say that two men aged 30 and 34, residents of Senggigi, have been arrested for the premeditated murder of Matilde Muñoz and with robbery with violence. A statement reads: "The two have admitted to planning the murder of the victim. They entered the victim's room through a window. Their aim was to steal Muñoz's belongings." The statement adds that she was suffocated.
