Two Palma Airport employees have been arrested by the National Police for two separate crimes.
In one case, a worker with an airport services company stole a tourist's belt bag that contained $7,000 as well as various personal belongings.
The other case was to do with an employee of a vending machine company. This person used a key to open the vending machines in order to steal the takings. At the time of his arrest, he had €2,320 on him. A subsequent search of his home uncovered a further €2,240.
The police report that ten other arrests were made at the airport over the first two weeks of September. These stemmed from border controls of some 3,500 flights.
Four arrests were for document falsification - the use of fake identities. Three were of people who face pending court procedures, and there were three more related to theft.
